The massive success of Valheim caused a huge spike in popularity and fanbase of survival games and V Rising seems to be making the most out of this opportunity. Soon after its release, V Rising saw the number of active players growing at an exponential rate. And since V Rising is all about survival, players are looking for all the possible ways to stay ahead of the pack.
And when it comes to survival in a world full of bloodthirsty Vampires, you need to claim the best place for your castle in the game. And so, I have created a list of the top 5 best castle locations to build your first castle in V rising!
1. Farbane Woods [West]

Farbane Woods is home to some of the best places in the game. Located at the heart of Vardoran, you can get to pretty much anywhere from this massive location with ease. You can find human settlements, valuable resources, waygates, and much more. This is also the place where you will be spending most of your early time in the game, probably around level 25 to 30 in PvE.
With all these advantages, there’s often a lot of heat around this part of the map, so you do need to find a good spot to set up your base. I do recommend claiming a piece of land on the western side of the Farbane Woods. Most of the early-game bosses are easy to deal with and you can find pretty much all the resources you need nearby.
However, it’s not a good choice when it comes to PvP, do expect frequent visits and attacks, especially if you are a curious soul. You will come across many players and you might even have to fight frequently but it’s totally worth it unless your server is filled with high-level players, which would require you to find a more secluded space.
2. Farbane Woods [East]

With an area so big, it would be totally unfair if we just picked a single spot, especially when we have to spend a lot of our time here in PvE. So, another great place to set up your first base would be around the eastern side of the Farbane Woods with easy access to Old Vampire Waygate.
Just like the previous spot, you will be surrounded by a number of early-game bosses and other wild creatures but having a waygate nearby definitely comes in handy. And you can, of course, find all the important resources during the early game at arm’s distance in this place.
Now when it comes to PvP, you can find high grounds and set your base up there for added protection from the unwanted enemies or you can save your resources and build your castle on the flat grounds of this area. Again, not recommended for PvP beginners because there’s a lot going on in this area.
3. Dunley Farmlands

Farbane Woods might be the best location in the game in terms of resources and connected pathways, but if you want to stay safe while remaining close to the population, Dunley Farmlands might just be the best option for you. Located in the middle of the map, Dunley Farmlands has easy access to many great places including the Farbane Woods and Silverlight Hills.
Due to its geographic location, having a castle here makes for an easily defendable place in PvP with only two entrances. You also get easy access to resources like glass, gems, and of course, Iron mine. There are also some farms and other human settlements nearby, which gives you access to fresh blood and other valuable loot.
This place is great for many reasons; it is relatively safer, gives access to other prime locations, spans over a vast area, has a Waygate nearby, and is quite beginner-friendly as well. Depending on how many castle hearts your server allows, this place definitely deserves one.
4. Western Silverlight Hills

Now if you are playing on a PvE server, this part of the map is restricted to end-game content filled with high-level bosses and powerful monsters, which is not something you would want to get into as a beginner. However, it’s a different story for PvP, because Silverlight Hills is located at the far-east end of the map and most places you find here can only be attacked from a single direction, which makes it a great defensive location.
Now that is also a problem because it’s cut off from the rest of the world and many prime locations except for the Sacred Silver Mines, which gives you easy access to one of the most valuable late-game resources, Silver! It also has one of the largest areas on a tall mountain.
So make sure to claim as much area as you can, because you wouldn’t want an enemy to become your blood-thirsty neighbor. For a PvP beginner, this is definitely one of the best locations to build your first castle and stay away from the evil clutches of other vampires.
5. Cursed Forest

Cursed Forest might not be the best place to live a happy life as a Vampire in PvE but it surely remains a good choice for beginners to stay away from high-level players in PvP. It is situated at the far end of the map and people hardly ever make it a target. And as it only has one entrance, it’s also pretty easy to protect.
In PvE, there aren’t many advantages to this place but you do get a large space with easy access to the dark parts of the Cursed Forest. However, this is definitely not recommended for beginners as there are more than enough powerful monsters and witches to hunt you down within seconds.
But if you are ready to take on the next level of challenges dwelling in the deep parts of the forest, having a castle nearby definitely comes in handy. But if you are looking to stay out of trouble and lay low as a beginner in a PvP server, this place can be your little fortress.
There are a lot of factors to keep in mind while looking for a good place to build your first castle in V Rising. And at the end of the day, it all comes down to whether you are playing PvP or PvE. So, these are some of the best places where you can build your castle on both servers.
